A Family Legacy Since 1840
Six Generations of Heart, History & Hospitality
In 1840, Simeon and Rachel Hann built the original homestead on a 600-acre tract of land in what is now Andover, New York. Over the next 120 years, ten children and six generations of Hann family descendants would call this house their home. During that time, it served as a working farm, a stagecoach stop, and—according to local legend—a stop on the Underground Railroad.
Though the house passed out of the family for a brief time in the late 20th century, it was lovingly restored and reclaimed in 2014 by Barbara (Strouse) Rechenberg, Simeon’s great-great-great-granddaughter, and her husband Kurt. Their mission? To preserve not just the architecture, but the stories and spirit of this one-of-a-kind home.
Today, the Hann Homestead Inn continues to welcome guests from near and far with the same warmth, care, and connection it always has — where family roots run deep, and every guest is treated like one of our own.
